Created in China ( Chinese title 淬火年代 which could be translated to “Quenching Age”) is an upcoming war/business drama starring Zhang Xincheng, Song Zuer, Wang Yanlin, Ren Chengwei and Zhang Yue. The drama is airing this coming June 18.
Synopsis
This drama tells the story of Liu Jun (played by Zhang Xincheng), who returned to his hometown Donghai after studying in Germany in the late 1990s. He followed the development of the times and was determined to transform his father’s old machinery manufacturing factory into a modern manufacturing factory with leading technology.

Thoughts
The production looks great overall. The drama is set in the ’90s. I was born in the early ’90s, so I’m not entirely sure if the clothing is historically accurate, but it definitely feels very ’90s to me. The trailer gives off super energetic vibes, and I really like it. The OST is great and empowering. I enjoy stories where we see the protagonist start a project from the ground up and turn it into a success. Very similar to Rising With the Wind. I’d say it’s the kind of drama I’d watch when I need a bit of career empowerment. It does look interesting, and I’m hoping we get to see some insights into the manufacturing industry.
I’m definitely excited to see Zhang Xincheng. I like his acting, and he consistently chooses great roles. I watched him in The Day of Becoming You and You Are My Lover Friend. His performance was excellent. Song Zuer is another amazing actress. She’s gained even more popularity recently after recovering from the tax evasion scandal, but I already liked her in Legally Romance and The Bond. I also really like actress Zhang Yue. I saw her in Love Like the Galaxy, and I loved her role there. She portrayed such a strong woman.

As for the story, I’m hoping it’s engaging and offers something unique. I have some faith in the male lead. He seems like a likable character, the kind you root for to succeed in the end. Not sure how much romance we’ll see as this looks like a male-centric drama.
The trailer shows great energy and interesting supporting characters. I also hope we get to see real-life events from the ’90s, like the rise of the internet, globalization and the arrival of the new millennium. The synopsis mentions the use of technology, so we might get to see some of that explored.
This drama also features special guest appearances by Wang Kai, Liu Yijun, and Liu Jun. Three popular actors I’ve enjoyed watching in other dramas.

Checking this one out for sure!
