Feud (Chinese title: 临江仙) is an upcoming idol custome drama airing on June 6, 2025 produced by iQiyi and Huanyu. The drama stars Bai Lu, Zeng Shunxi, He Ruixian and Chen Xinhai.
Synopsis
Hua Ruyue (Bai Lu), the Four Spirits Immortal Lord, and Bai Jiusi (Zeng Shunxi), the Great Mystic Lord , were originally a pair of immortal lovers who lived together from the same origin. However, due to a misunderstanding, they turned against each other. After a breakup, the loss of their son, and being tortured and killed, Hua Ruyue and Bai Jiusi struggled with love and hate, only to find that they had actually been involved in another bigger conspiracy. When disaster struck, the two put aside their personal grudges and fought side by side to save the world.
Based on the trailer, this definetly look like it’s a high budget drama with a lot of nice visuals. Good customes, landscapes, CGI and lively color palettes.
Bai Lu plays the female lead in this series. She is portrayed as an ordinary girl who just happens to be the partner of an immortal supreme lord—a very overused trope. It seems likely that her character will reincarnate at some point, as she appears to be playing two different roles. I might be biased, but her portrayal here reminds me of Li Susu in Till the End of the Moon, where she played a complex character who went from hate to love rather quickly. It looks like she’ll be taking on a similar dynamic in this drama.
One thing I didn’t like from the trailer was her voice/dubbing. It feels somewhat annoying and immature, especially when contrasted with the intense moments of rage and hate she has toward the male lead.
Joseph Zeng plays the male lead. I haven’t really watched much of his previous work, as the dramas he chooses don’t usually catch my attention. I’ve seen him in a few guest roles here and there, but he tends to have a poker face and struggles to convey emotions convincingly. Also, I’m not a fan of his white wig in the trailer. It looks too fake.
I can already tell this drama is going to be a rollercoaster of emotions. It looks like we’ll be getting a lot of intense moments from the main couple, stabbing, misunderstandings, probably some lies, hate, and love…
I personally do not have high hopes for this drama as I am not a fan of misunderstandings/lies and betrayal between lovers. But I will check this one out when it airs.
